15.30 Welcome & Registration

16.00 Introduction by Erwin Verstraelen, chairman CIOforum

The world is in a flux driven by many impactful forces that converge, creating the perfect storm. Digitalisation, geopolitics, climate change and energy transition, to name a few. Hide and wait won’t work as well as incremental approaches in response to these forces. A lot of breakthrough innovation will be needed to create a positive outcome for all. Co-creation is possibly the most promising approach towards innovation, where an outside-in approach creates better, richer and more meaningful ideas. Therefore: ‘Co-create to innovate’, the topic for the year end event of 2019.

We are proud to have three distinguished speakers, top in their respective fields, who will talk about the power of co-creation towards sustainable innovation.

16.15 Carole Lamarque, CEO of Union Duval innovative marketing, bestselling author and board member

In her second innovative book, Unfair Advantage, Carole describes how the competition is growing for almost every business and explains how to become an unfair competitor in your business field. An Unfair Advantage makes your company extremely unique. She defined a practical step-by-step plan to build an extremely unique business logic and business game and learn to think like a cheetah, the metaphor used to help entrepreneurs memorize the innovative business thinking.

17.15 Silvia Lenaerts, Vicerector University of Antwerp and Founder of Sustainable Energy, Air and Water Technology

Prof Lenaerts will elaborate on the role universities play in open innovation ecosystems. The role of universities is changing fast, from a focus on knowledge sharing towards a driver in tackling the huge societal challenges we face. This is done via a model of co-creation and co-development in a quadruple helix: Government, the private sector, academia and citizens. Several examples such as Blueapp and Vaccinopolis will be discussed.

17.45 Break with drinks and snacks

18.30 Wim De Waele, General Manager The Beacon

Co-creation sounds great, but how do you create a real, lasting impact and avoid that it doesn’t go beyond pure networking or marketing. Wim, based on his years of experience at B-Hive, will elaborate on what he sees are key success criteria in making ecosystems real drivers of tangible innovation.

19.15 CIO of the year 2019

We aim to have the new CIO of the Year, who will be announced on the 21st of November, with us for a first public appearance. He or she will follow in the footsteps of Erwin Verstraelen, president of CIOforum and Chief Digital and Innovation Officer of Port of Antwerp.
